FLOWER HILL INSTITUTE
JEMEZ, nm
The 2nd Annual Climate Change Conference from the New Mexico Tribal Resilience Action Network, titled Climate Rezilience: The Power of Corn took place on May 29-31 in the University of New Mexico's Rotunda. Over the course of three days, the 40 participants used discussions, activities, and a field trip to Santa Ana to explore different ways of thinking and talking about climate change and resilience in their communities. Flower Hill Institute's vice-chair and cultural advisor took on significant roles in the organization and execution of conference, representing the organization in discussions and helping bring traditional knowledge, understandings, and lifeways to bear in conversations about contemporary methods for building resilience to the complicated and difficult impacts of climate change. The Network, with Flower Hill serving as a tentpost of the organization, will continue to work on building resilience to climate change in New Mexico Native communities through both individual efforts and collective events like this one, including a renewed focus in extending its membership and support outside of the Pueblos to include the Navajo Nation and others further from the Rio Grande corridor.

Indian Nations Conservation Alliance
Taos, nm
The Indian Nations Conservation Alliance (INCA) is the bridge that connects two sides of a river. On one side are the typically underserved native ranchers and farmers. On the other bank are federal agencies of the US government and Tribal councils that want to take part in the restoration of America’s land usage. INCA connects these groups using in person meetings, online trainings, and hosting conferences in order to both expand the access of the native agricultural industry and increase the documented usage of public and private lands.
