How do I apply for the CCC Fellowship?
When will I be notified about the results of my application?
NMCEWL will contact 2022 applicants in mid-February 2022 to let them know whether they have been selected as fellows.
Is the fellowship online or in-person?
The fellowship is a hybrid of online and in-person programming. Virtual trainings will occur once a month and there will be four in-person gatherings in March, April, June, and September. In-person events will be organized in the best proximity to all fellows. Locations TBD.
What is the time commitment for the 2022 Fellowship?
The fellowship will run from March through November. Fellows will meet for a two-day in person gathering four times over the course of the fellowship in person (March, April, June, and September), and will meet virtually monthly for one full day which will include trainings, team building, and project development.
How do I know if I’m a good candidate?
You have a deep commitment to your community and to conservation, agriculture, or both.
You have an idea for a collaborative project in your community and need more support and/or you are looking to gain grassroots leadership skills.
You are able to commit to the entire scope of the fellowship and reside in New Mexico.
Fellows can come from any professional background. The fellowship is not limited to individuals who are already agriculture or conservation professionals.
We will prioritize applicants who come from historically underrepresented or economically low-resource communities and other marginalized identities, with at least 50% of fellowships being awarded to these individuals. We specifically encourage the application of Tribal, Latinx, Chicanx, Hispanic, Black/African American, Asian, Pacific Islander, and/or LGBTQ+. However, qualified applicants from any background with a strong application will also be considered. The selection process will take into account representation from a variety of work backgrounds, including but not limited to government and tribal agencies, farmers and ranchers, relevant retailers, conservation district supervisors, extension agents, nonprofit workers, and educators.
What costs does NMCEWL cover during the fellowship?
NMCEWL will cove the cost of travel, food and lodging for in person events.
We will also provide a stipend for food on all day virtual events.
We can provide a small stipend to support fellow participation if there's a need.
We will provide up to $2500 as seed funding for a project developed during the fellowship for fellows that complete the curriculum.
